چکیده

In this paper it is proposed a wavelength converter placement scheme called First Load Priority FLP, useful for designing and planning of optical networks with sparse-partial wavelength conversion architecture. A performance evaluation of FLP working in different scenarios is provided. Comparing to others wavelength converter placement schemes like MBPF, TOT, XC and partial wavelength conversion, FLP achieved better performance results in all scenarios studied, very close to that achieved from full-complete wavelength conversion architecture. Besides, we present the Adaptive FLP that is an extension of the FLP placement scheme. It was conceived with the aim of decreasing the number of Wavelength Converter Routers (WCRs) used by the FLP scheme. Results achieved by applying the Adaptive FLP showed a reduction of 42% (5 WCRs) in terms of WCRs required by simple FLP in the scenarios studied.

First Load Priority: A Wavelength Converter Placement Scheme for Optical Networks with Sparse-Partial Wavelength Conversion

Efficient Algorithms for Wavelength Converter Placement in All-optical Networks

In this paper, we consider the optimal converter placement problem for a given number of converters on a path topology in all-optical WDM networks. The placement of converters on a path divides the path into segments. A segment is deened as a set of links between two consecutive converters on a path. We rst introduce and prove that optimal placement considering end-to-end performance is obtaine...

Sparse-Partial Wavelength Conversion in Wavelength-Routed All-Optical Networks

Wavelength conversion has been shown as one of the key techniques that can improve the blocking performance in a wavelength-routed all-optical network. Given that wavelength converters nowadays are still very expensive, how to make effective use of the limited number of wavelength converters becomes an important issue. In this paper, we propose a novel sparse-partial wavelength conversion (SPWC...
